Catalina expands in Italy
With some significant new roll-outs and pilots, an era of expansion into Italy has begun for Florida-based Catalina Marketing.
Italian supermarkets SMA Supermercati and Finiper have signed up for Catalina Marketing’s Checkout Coupon in-store media network (known as Magic Market in Italy). The roll-out deal was signed with Catalina Marketing Italia, a subsidiary of the Catalina Marketing Europe division.
SMA Supermercati SMA Supermercati (the supermarket division of Rinascente Auchan Group, part of the FIAT Group) will instal the network in all of its thirty hypermarkets and 158 supermarkets, and will extend the network into more than a hundred of its larger franchised stores (it covers some 600 franchised stores altogether).
Finiper Finiper will instal the network in its 19 hypermarkets. It has also signed up for Retail Direct Online, which it will use for data collection, data warehousing and analysis in support of its targeted loyalty marketing programmes. Finiper is the fastest growing Italian retailer: its founder and owner is also president of the Carrefour-GS Group Italy, a Finiper strategic alliance. Carrefour-GS’s small supermarket division (some 600 franchised stores branded DiperDi) is also piloting the in-store media network.
NovaCoop At the same time, NovaCoop, the northern regional distribution centre of Coop Italia (Italy’s top retail chain with over 1,200 supermarkets and 45 hypermarkets country-wide), has signed up to pilot Catalina Marketing Network. NovaCoop, with 66 stores, is known for its high levels of customer satisfaction and customer care, and has recently started loyalty programmes for its members.
