TheDrinkShop joins the iPoints loyalty party

The online drinks seller, TheDrinkShop.com, has become the latest brand to join the Maximiles-operated online loyalty coalition, iPoints, in order to help boost its online sales, customer retention and acquisition.

As part of the partnership agreement, Maximiles will help drive new customers to TheDrinkShop's web site from its online community of active shoppers, which currently stands at over 2 million members.

Earning and burning The drinks seller aims to use the iPoints loyalty currency to help increase repeat visits, basket sizes, and shopping frequency. Members of the iPoints programme will also be able to take advantage of regular promotions and e-mail newsletters from the retailer.

TheDrinkShop is now rewarding loyal customers with 6 iPoints for every £1 they spend. Customers can then redeem their iPoints (which can also be earned through many other iPoints partners) for a range of gifts including CDs, DVDs, books, gardening equipment, cameras, and weekend breaks. In the near future TheDrinkShop plans to allow the redemption of points for its own products as well.

Driving retail growth Between the Maximiles loyalty programme in France and the iPoints coalition in the UK, Maximiles currently claims a member base of over 4 million consumers. According to Adam Maher, director of loyalty for Maximiles, "More than ever, in the current economic environment, retailers need cost effective solutions to help attract customers and keep them coming back."

Tim Francis, managing director for TheDrinkShop.com, added: "This will be our first online loyalty scheme, and we see the value that it could bring, rewarding customers according to their spending in order to drive loyalty and customer retention."
