Tomorrow's newspapers today - from interactive kiosks

Kiosks that provide an interactive newspaper-on-demand service have been installed at four high-traffic international locations in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.

The PressPoint kiosks, from PEPC Worldwide, can currently print the latest edition of any of 69 newspapers from 37 countries. Those available include leading national and international dailies such as the International Herald Tribune, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The Atlanta Journal & Constitution, El Pais (from Spain), Il Giornale (from Italy), Die Welt (from Germany), De Telegraaf (from the Netherlands) and El Economista (from Mexico). At the official launch Mr Ramon Chong, commissioner of tourism of Curacao, printed the first PressPoint newspaper at Curacao's Lions Dive & Beach Resort.

International appeal And with the installation of a PressPoint at Hato Airport, PEPC launches its innovative service in a highly attractive market. Raoul Maphar, CEO of PEPC Worldwide, said that international airport concourses are the perfect location for the new service. He added, "I can't think of any other location with equally high international traffic volume." Travellers who wait for hours at a time in busy airports are likely to be receptive to such an interactive newspaper printing service.

Better customer service Also in Curacao, PressPoints have been installed at the Sheraton Curacao Resort and SuperClubs Breezes Curacao. Tourism is a priority for economic development and employment in Curacao and, by installing a PressPoint kiosk, hotels can provide their guests and visitors with a unique service: the latest edition of their local newspapers while away from home."

PEPC expects to install as many as fifty more kiosks in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba during 2002.
