50th anniversary close-up on Disney Rewards

The Disney Rewards Visa Card (issued by Chase Bank) continues its rapid growth, having now issued over one million cards according to Disney, which has now also launched some extra benefits to coincide with the famous theme park's 50th anniversary.

Like most points-based reward credit cards, the Disney Rewards card offers consumers and their families the ability to earn Disney Rewards points for everyday purchases, along with various benefits and savings related to Disney.

Card benefits The card has no annual fee, and the Disney Rewards points earned may be redeemed toward Disney Theme Park and Disney Cruise Line holidays, Disney DVDs, toys, books and tickets to premier Disney movies (without any blackout dates or seating capacity restrictions).

Among the benefits are cardholder-only finance packages for selected Walt Disney Travel Company holiday packages as we as for all Disney Cruise Line holidays (whether booked through Disney or travel agents) and Walt Disney World Resorts. Members also qualify for special Disneyland Resort holiday offers.

50th anniversary treats To celebrate 50 years of Disney Theme Park magic, Disney Rewards Visa Card has introduced some new benefits (valid until the end of September 2006) for both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort during what the company has dubbed "The Happiest Celebration On Earth", including:

  • Disney and Me - a cardholder-exclusive meet'n'greet event with Disney characters, for up to 6 people.  
  • Enchanted Savings – a 10% discount at selected Disneyland Resort dining locations, and on selected merchandise purchases of: US$50 or more at the Disneyland Resort; US$25 or more at the World of Disney Store in the Downtown Disney Marketplace at Walt Disney World Resort.  
  • A unique Disneyland Resort holiday package - available only to cardholders, offering preferred parade viewing at Disneyland Park or Disney's California Adventure Park.

Redemption options Cardmembers can redeem their rewards points at Disney Stores or online at DisneyShopping.com, as well as for Disney movies at over 440 participating cinema chains, or for Disney DVDs, CDs and books at over 250 major participating retailers.

The latest Disney Rewards Visa Cards feature five new designs (Vintage Mickey, Mickey and Friends, Bambi, Pixie Dust, and the Sleeping Beauty Castle from the Disneyland Park).
