Marriage and loyalty go together, Marriott says

Marriott Rewards has launched a new web site called 'Rewarding Weddings' which to provide newlyweds who stage their reception at a Marriott hotel with details of how to earn enough Marriott Rewards points for a free honeymoon.

The site allows couples to search for participating locations at which to earn their honeymoon's worth of loyalty points. The rules are simple: The receptions must be held on a Friday or Sunday (from 1st January to 30th September 2006), and must be booked in advance any time from 1st November 2005 to 30th March 2006.

Reward levels The Rewarding Weddings reward levels have been carefully planned. Couples will receive the following numbers of Marriott Rewards points when they spend anything from US$15,000 to US$25,000+ on food and drinks at their reception:

  • US$15,000 earns 150,000 Marriott Rewards points - enough for a week's stay at any Marriott hotel worldwide, seven nights in any three Marriott or Renaissance hotels in Hawaii, or seven nights in any three hotels in the UK and Ireland.
  • US$20,000 earns 200,000 Marriott Rewards points - enough for a seven-day cruise to the Caribbean, round-trip rail tours on the Orient Express. or golf school for two.
  • US$25,000 earns 250,000 Marriott Rewards points - enough for a week-long complete travel package, including seven nights at any participating Marriott International hotel, additional frequent flyer miles, and 25% off Hertz car rental.

Planners on hand Marriott also has trained some 2,500 Certified Wedding Event Planners who can assist with scheduling and planning details or work directly with the couple's outside wedding planner. Each event planner is trained in wedding protocols, etiquette, and culinary and decorating trends.

But the happy couple aren't forced to spend their rewards on a honeymoon; they could choose more usual rewards such as shorter hotel stays, theme park passes, and retail merchandise, to name a few options. Marriott Rewards has over 2,500 participating hotels and 22 million members worldwide.
