Kmart launches pharmacy loyalty scheme
In the US, Kmart has introduced its new Pharmacy Rewards loyalty programme to help provide loyal customers with greater rewards for filling their prescriptions at Kmart pharmacies by giving them 10,000 extra Shop Your Way loyalty points (worth US$10) for every five qualifying prescriptions filled during a rolling 12-month period.
According to Phil Keough, president for Kmart pharmacy, customer feedback suggested that members were looking for greater flexibility and value from the programme, alongside Kmart's existing focus on community, healthcare innovation, and personalised attention. Consequently the Shop Your Way programme was updated to give members extra points every after filling five prescriptions including pet prescriptions and immunizations.
The new programme's other features include:
- Automatic Updates Each time a member fills a qualified prescription at Kmart Pharmacy using a Shop Your Way account number or the phone number associated with the account, progress toward their next reward is tracked automatically.
- Availability Once received, Pharmacy Reward points are usually available for members to redeem during the next transaction following their prescription purchase. Once awarded, reward points are valid for 14 days.
- Point Redemption Reward points can be redeemed for qualifying non-pharmacy merchandise at any Kmart or Sears, both in-store and online.
- Pharmacy Reward Tracking Rewards can be tracked three ways. First, members can login at kmartpharmacy.com/rewards; second, a tracking receipt is printed for each prescription purchase at the checkout, and third, members can simply opt in to receive email updates.
- Limitless Rewards There is no limit to the number of pharmacy rewards a member can earn in a rolling year. The more prescriptions filled, the more rewards earned.
Both existing and new Shop Your Way members must enrol for the new pharmacy programme at any Kmart Pharmacy or via the programme's web site.
Points are valid on the purchase of non-pharmacy merchandise only, and the member must fill five prescriptions within a single 12 month period to earn a reward, after which the reward period starts again. The programme is not valid for and cannot be used by any patient who is a beneficiary of a federal healthcare programme (such as Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part B, Medicaid, or TRICARE). The programme is also not valid in Los Angeles for controlled substance prescriptions, or in AR, MA, NJ, NY, Virgin Islands and Guam.
Shop Your Way offers millions of products, personalised services, and advice through a network of retail partners and service providers, allowing members to shop, compare, purchase items and earn points to use toward future purchases. Members also benefit from special pricing, exclusive sales, events, access to celebrity brands and various sweepstakes. There is no minimum purchase value required for members to redeem their points, and points can be used toward purchases across a wide variety of product categories (with some exclusions).
