AAdvantage launches interactive rewards map
American Airlines has launched a new tool called 'Award Map', giving its AAdvantage frequent flyer programme members a whole new way to view the award tickets they can book online, based on the number of miles they want to redeem.
Using a real-time, interactive map of American's network, the tool allows customers to view multiple available destinations at once when searching for award travel.
To use Award Map, members simply enter the number of miles they would like to use, the type of destination they would like to visit based on their interest, region and other search criteria they are accustomed to - including preferred dates, number of travellers and cabin preference.
Once the search criteria are entered, Award Map displays all the available award tickets on the map.
Award Map was a direct product of the American Airlines Development Program for Technology (ADEPT) initiative - a college recruiting programme created to develop a technical talent pipeline for information technology.
"Award Map was designed with our customers in mind, to help make booking flights with miles easier," explained Suzanne Rubin, president for the AAdvantage loyalty programme. "The intuitive layout and simple navigation of Award Map offers a robust and easy-to-use tool that makes searching for and booking award tickets more convenient."
