Accor launches worldwide loyalty programme

Accor has launched a new, worldwide, frequent guest loyalty programme called 'AIClub', covering many of the group's brands including some 2,000 hotels throughout 90 countries.

Beginning in September 2008, the fee-free AIClub programme allows frequent guests to earn loyalty points at Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Suitehotel, Ibis and All Seasons hotels.

Redemption options The points can be converted into gift vouchers and used throughout the year in Accor hotels. They can also be used with partners such as Club Mediterranee and Europcar, or converted into miles with various airlines (including Air France KLM, British Airways, Delta Airlines, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, US Airways and Qantas).

Because the programme is completely web-based, it allows members to easily manage their account whenever and wherever they like. According to Accor, the programme was designed to cover every segment from economy through to luxury, and to meet the needs of an increasingly fragmented and mobile clientele that is seeking recognition and personalisation.

Membership tiers With each night spent in a participating hotel, members earn points and exclusive benefits. Depending on the number of hotel nights or the number of points earned in each year, members are then upgraded from one programme tier to the next, with the points earned increasing with each tier.

There are four tiers (standard, silver, gold, and platinum), with benefits as follows:

  1. AIClub card Members earn 2 points for each €1 spent in a Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure or Suitehotel, and 1 point for each €1 spent in an Ibis or All Seasons hotel.  
  2. AIClub Silver card This privilege is earned after spending at least 10 hotel nights or earning 2,500 points in a year. Members earn 3 points for each €1 spent in a Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure or Suitehotel, and 1.5 points for each €1 spent in an Ibis or All Seasons hotel.  
  3. AIClub Gold card This privilege is earned after spending at least 30 hotel nights or earning 10,000 points in a year. Members earn 3.5 points for each €1 spent in a Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure or Suitehotel, and 1.75 points for each €1 spent in an Ibis or All Seasons hotel. Members also benefit from 5-day guaranteed availability, a welcome drink and gift, late check-out until 4:00pm, and room upgrades (depending on availability) at MGallery, Pullman and Sofitel hotels.  
  4. AIClub Platinum card This privilege is earned after staying at least 60 hotel nights or earning 25,000 points in a year. Members earn 4 points for each €1 spent in a Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure or Suitehotel, and 2 points for each €1 spent in an Ibis or All Seasons hotel. Members also benefit from 3-day guaranteed availability, a welcome drink and gift, late check-out until 4:00pm, and room upgrades (depending on availability) at MGallery, Pullman and Sofitel hotels.

The points don't expire, provided that the member spends at least one night each year in a participating hotel.
