Aeroplan members to earn miles for surveys

The Canadian loyalty scheme Aeroplan is to pay its members in Aeroplan Miles for their participation in online panel surveys, following a new partnership deal with market research company Decima Research.

Aeroplan Members will be invited to join Decima's on-line research panel by means of an e-mail invitation, through notices in Aeroplan's Tangerine member newsletter, and on the Aeroplan web site.

Consumers who participate will be asked by Decima to complete surveys and will earn varying amounts of Aeroplan Miles as a direct reward for participation.

Reward options Members taking part in the survey panels can actually choose from a range of incentives offered by Decima, with Aeroplan Miles being among the options.

Over the past year, Decima has conducted more than 1 million consumer interviews (of which 250,000 were done online). The arrangement with Aeroplan is expected to more than triple the size of Decima's eVox online panel over the coming year, adding large cells of well-profiled consumer and business segments.

Win-win-win situation Marc Trudeau, vice president of strategy and business development for Aeroplan, said: "With all partnerships, we look for a three-way win: in this instance, our members can earn miles, our partner can build stronger customer relationships through relevant data, and Aeroplan can harness the capabilities of a market research firm."

Bruce Anderson, CEO for Decima Research, believes that Aeroplan members represent a good cross section of market segments that research buyers consider valuable, largely because the programme has partners in a wide variety of sectors.
