According to a report on MarketWatch, Amazon.com Inc. said on December 28 that the internet behemoth added 3 million new members to its Amazon Prime service in the third week of December.

This news follows on the heels of a recent RBC Capital Markets survey that suggested U.S. Prime adoption has risen from 25% of customers in 2013 to 40% today. According to RBC Capital, Amazon may have up to 50 million U.S. Prime subscribers, and as many as 60 to 80 million globally.

According to the MarketWatch report:

"Prime members made the company's "The man in the high castle" series the most watched on Prime Video this season, and helped double the total viewing hours of Prime Video titles compared with 2014, the company said in a statement... More than 200 million more items shipped for no cost this season versus last one. Among the most popular Prime Now items sold were Simply Orange Juice, Bounty Paper Towels and Haribo Gold Bears."

Remember: it's Amazon's world. We just live in it.
