Amex woos gold card travellers with more benefits
American Express has launched a new range of travel benefits for its Gold Charge Card holders, called 'Gold Card Destinations', offering enhanced holiday experiences with special amenities worth at least US$100 on almost any trip booked through American Express Gold Card Destinations' travel partners.
Through Gold Card Destinations, cardholders also now have access to a number of exclusive travel and entertainment packages, a list of which is updated each month on the Gold Card Destinations web site.
Adding unique value "We continually look for opportunities to add travel benefits and services to our cards that cater to card members' passion for travel," said Christopher Fred, Gold Card vice president for American Express.
The Gold Card Destinations programme's cardholder benefits include:
- Upgraded experiences Access to amenities on almost any trip, value-added holiday package or cruise from selected American Express Gold Tour and Gold Cruise partners. Participating partners include: Abercrombie & Kent, American Express Vacations, Brendan Worldwide Vacations, Classic Vacations, Smithsonian Journeys, Ski.com, Azamara, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Holland America Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, The Yachts of Seabourn, Silversea, Uniworld and Windstar. Among the benefits are US$100 credit toward lift tickets on qualifying holidays from Ski.com, and a free "spa taster package" and Pinnacle Grill lunch for two on any American Express Mariner Club sailing holiday with Holland America Line.
- Exclusive holiday deals A collection of value-enhanced travel packages, initially including stays at the Fairmont Bermuda Resorts with a guaranteed room upgrade, two free rounds of golf, free breakfast or afternoon tea, and a US$100 voucher toward purchases made at the hotel.
- Entertainment getaways A variety of holiday packages paired with the Gold Card Events Preferred Seating benefit, which includes tickets to sought-after concerts and sporting events.
- Additional savings Cardholders booking a Gold Card Destinations holiday package will earn double Membership Rewards points and, when booking a qualifying holiday worth US$3,000 or more, they also receive the Cardmember Annual Travel Benefit (a US$100 statement credit).
