Bank of America runs sports-fan referral scheme

In the USA, sports fans and their friends can now earn a signing bonus from Bank of America through its 'Refer-a-Fan' programme, through which baseball fans who refer a friend or family member for a new cheque account can earn US$25 for themselves, along with a bonus for the friend.

The Refer-a-Fan programme runs until the end of April 2006, and was launched to coincide with the start of the 2006 Major League Baseball season.

Affinity "We are proud of our association with Major League Baseball and the 10 Clubs with whom we have sponsorship relationships," said Rick Parsons, Brand Marketing Executive, Bank of America. "Our customers have a real affinity for baseball, so providing them with this special offer is just one way we're developing benefits that deliver added value and match their personal interests."

Sponsorships As the "2006 Official Bank of Baseball", Bank of America has set up national sponsorship agreements with the four organisations that represent the sport (Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, Little League Baseball and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum). This also extends to banking sponsorships with 10 Major League Baseball clubs and 68 Minor League Baseball teams.
