Buy and Fly! praised for competing with the big coalitions

The UK points-based travel, leisure and lifestyle reward programme Buy and Fly! is expanding with the addition of new points issuing and redemption partners, having recently enjoyed praise from The Sunday Times for providing rewards that compete with coalition loyalty programmes such as Nectar and Air Miles.

The programme's latest expansion continues along its travel and leisure theme, with the addition of National Car Rental, Alamo Rent A Car and Guy Salmon Prestige Rental as both collection and redemption partners.

With immediate effect, Buy and Fly! collectors earn 1 point for every £10 spent with National or Alamo, and 1 point for every £30 spent hiring a luxury vehicle from Guy Salmon. Extra points can also be earned when hiring a car from National or Alamo locations in other countries. Points can also be redeemed for car hire, starting from 260 points.

According to Kim Brown, marketing director for National Car Rental, Alamo Rent a Car and Guy Salmon, "We are excited about this partnership with Buy and Fly! because of the benefits it allows us to pass on to our customers. It gives them the chance to gain points when they hire from us and exchange those points for a variety of travel benefits including, of course, car rental in over 80 countries."

A worthy competitor A recent article in the Travel section of The Sunday Times compared Buy and Fly! with Nectar and Air Miles, and found that availability of rewards (e.g. whether a flight is available once a consumer has earned enough points) is one of the most important factors for loyalty programme members. In this respect, the article highlighted the programme favourably even against the country's main coalition programmes.

One of the most effective ways for consumers to collect Buy and Fly! points is the Morgan Stanley Buy and Fly! MasterCard, which rewards cardholders with one Buy and Fly! point for every £10 spent on the card.

Programme availability Buy and Fly! is available to residents of the UK, the Republic of Ireland, and Spain (under the name Compra y Vuela).

Existing partners include 19 airlines: Air Europa, Aer Lingus, Air France, Alitalia, American Airlines, Air Canada, bmi, Cathay Pacific, Continental Airlines, Delta, flybe, Iberia Airlines, Icelandair, KLM, Monarch Scheduled, TAP Air Portugal, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, and Virgin Express. According to Buy and Fly!'s operator, Landround Plc, more partners will be added to the programme in the UK during the next few months.
