Buy and Fly! programme to aid Comic Relief
The UK points-based travel reward programme, Buy and Fly!, has become the first official flight partner of the charity, Comic Relief, which strives to combat poverty and social injustice, both in the UK and in other countries.
In addition to covering the cost of a large number of international and domestic flights for the Comic Relief team to visit projects, Buy and Fly! has introduced a donation system which allows members of the loyalty programme to donate their points to the charity.
Every point donated will be given directly to Comic Relief, which will then use them, through the Buy and Fly! travel centre, to visit, monitor, and evaluate the many projects it funds around the world.
Donations gladly received "Comic Relief is working to end poverty and social injustice across the world, and we are proud to offer something toward this goal," said David Lyne, chief executive for the programme's operator, Landround plc. "The new donation facility presents an option for collectors who wish to contribute to Comic Relief, offering the chance to donate points for flights instead of, or in addition to, cash."
"Visiting current and potential projects is a vital part of running the charity," explained Kevin Cahill, chief executive for Comic Relief. "Without monitoring and evaluating the projects that we fund, it would be difficult to get a true picture of the most effective way to use donations. Our partnership with Buy and Fly! is extremely valuable."
Information on how to collect and donate Buy and Fly! points has been posted on the programme's web site.
