A new online shopping web site, YourShops.ca, has been launched following agreements between the creator and operator of the Air Miles reward programme in Canada, The Loyalty Group, and a number of North American brand name retailers.

Among the retail partners involved with the new shopping portal are L.L. Bean, The Sharper Image, Lands' End, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Crate and Barrel, Justwhiteshirts.com, Martha Stewart's 'The Catalog for Living', and Amazon Canada.

By combining the attraction of popular North American brands with the recognised appeal of Air Miles, the shopping site offers Air Miles' 14.6 million Canadian loyalty points collectors an online mall featuring lifestyle, home decor, gifts, entertainment, and fashion goods.

Awarding points
When shopping at the online mall, Air Miles collectors earn one reward mile for every Can$20 spent. Moreover, as more retailers are added to the portal, shoppers will also be able to take advantage of retailer-sponsored special offers.

"YourShops.ca brings together the power of the most recognised brands in retail and the unparalleled success of the Air Miles reward programme," commented Air Miles Canada's president, Bryan Pearson.

John Scullion, president and CEO for The Loyalty Group, added: "This initiative demonstrates our growth-focused approach and our commitment to continue to pursue strategies that grow the Air Miles reward programme in Canada and the loyalty segment in North America."

Growth
According to The Loyalty Group, Canadian shoppers are forecast to spend some Can$11.7 billion online in 2004, and the number of Canadians turning to online shopping is increasing annually.

By 2006, an estimated 7.2 million Canadian households will spend approximately Can$24 billion online - a figure which is expected to account for around 8% of all retail transactions.
