Canadian regional airline launches loyalty scheme

The Canadian regional airline, Porter Airlines, has announced the launch of a frequent flyer programme entitled 'VIPorter' to provide new benefits for its frequent users.

With the programme having been launched officially on 9th June 2008, all registered Porter Airlines customers now earn VIPorter Points each time they fly. These points can be redeemed for free travel on Porter Airlines flights after as few as 5 one-way flights.

Burning points The airline says that the VIPorter programme was structured for simplicity, as well as for ease of earning points and rewards. There are no blackout periods for flight redemptions, and seats are easily available because up to 10% of system capacity can be allocated for award travel.

"VIPorter broadens Porter's premium offering and provides travellers with realistic and attainable rewards," explained Don Carty, chairman for Porter Airlines. Award flights also include free seat selection and convenient change options.

Earning points After earning 7,500 VIPorter Points, passengers can redeem those points for a free one-way flight. The airline's three fare classes all earn points at different levels, with 10-pack Porter Passes and group bookings also being eligible for points as shown below:

Service as usual The airline stresses that all passengers will still continue to enjoy Porter's usual customer-focused approach to flying, which includes business-friendly amenities in the Toronto lounge and a free in-flight food and drink service.

Registered passengers simply need to quote their customer number at the time of booking in order to collect VIPorter Points, which those who have not yet registered can do so online via the airline's web site or through the call centre.
