Carlson to operate e-points for Buy and Fly!

The UK-based Buy and Fly! travel rewards programme is to have its new electronic points system developed and operated by Carlson Marketing Group (CMG), following the signing of a deal between the programme's operator, Landround Plc, and CMG.

CMG will develop and operate the electronic points system for Buy and Fly!, which will enable clients and collectors to manage their loyalty account activity both online and by telephone, including facilities for enrolment, point balances, transaction history, and redemptions.

"Since Buy and Fly's launch, it has received good support from clients and many plaudits from the marketing industry, particularly in respect of the simplicity of the programme and the value it delivers," said Landround's CEO, David Lyne. "However, we have been constrained on occasions by the whole process being solely paper driven."

Frank McCusker, managing director for CMG, added: "By attaching our tried-and-tested solutions and capacity to Buy and Fly!, we will deliver a potent proposition to companies in the UK and Ireland."

The new electronic points system is expected to be launched in October 2003. Landround has promised that more detailed information about the system and its features will be made available at launch time.

Background... The Buy and Fly! programme currently works with 17 airlines around the world, including: American Airlines, bmi, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, Aer Lingus, Continental Airlines, Delta, Icelandair, flybe, KLM, Monarch, Alitalia, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, Virgin Express, TAP Air Portugal, and Air France.

Companies using the programme include Odeon, Hard Rock Cafe, T-mobile, Central Tyre, Hildon Water, Nikon, OK! Magazine, DHL, Jet Petrol, Domino's Pizza, Autoglass, Morris Furniture (G Plan), Leisure Link, and Diners Club.

The cost of issuing a single reward point starts at £0.048 (4.8 pence), and member redemptions start from 390 points (for a flight to Paris or Amsterdam).
