Citi launches payment card reward network

The US-based credit card issuer, Citi Cards, has launched a loyalty rewards programme designed to reward card members with a wide variety of flexible redemption options, in the form of a new 'ThankYou Redemptions Network'.

Citi developed the ThankYou Redemptions Network to encourage and show appreciation for loyal card membership. The programme offers card members accelerated point-earning opportunities, along with special offers, merchant-based bonus point promotions, and the ability to combine ThankYou Points from various Citi Card and AT&T Universal Card accounts at the time of redemption.

Redemption options The company has assembled the network of merchants to provide loyalty members with lifestyle and experience-based rewards. Offers include gift certificates for merchandise, dining, electronics, entertainment, or travel options, as well as benefits such as APR reductions, hot air balloon rides, or golf and spa packages. The reward programme can also be customised by the consumer through its 'Your Wish Fulfilled' option which provides a personal shopper.

Merchants participating in the programme currently include a variety of retail stores, restaurants, travel providers, entertainment providers, service establishments, and others. Redemption items start at 1,000 points, and the company has taken care to ensure that there are hundreds of items under the 4,500 point mark, including music CDs, nights out at the movies, or gift cards from Best Buy, Macy's, and Olive Garden.

Earning points The new benefits and point-earning opportunities are available to any consumer with a Citi Platinum Select MasterCard, a Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards MasterCard, a CitiBusiness Card, or an AT&T Universal MasterCard. The company says that the programme and network will also be made available on other Citi products in the future.

Some 4.2 million of the card issuer's customers who were already participating in existing point-based reward programmes have been automatically upgraded to the new programme.

"ThankYou Network is more than just a rewards programme - it is a meaningful way to thank our customers because we encourage card members to experience redemption more quickly," explained Bill Borden, senior vice president for Citi Cards. "By leveraging our relationships with our merchant partners and delivering an array of items and services at a wide range of point levels, we've made it easier and faster for our cardmembers to redeem their points."
