Co-op Atlantic launches loyalty scheme

Co-op Atlantic has announced that 18 of its stores in 15 communities across Atlantic Canada have launched a co-branded loyalty programme with Futura Rewards (previously known as KidsFutures), a rewards programme that helps families save money toward their financial goals.

The new co-branded loyalty programme will help more than 60,000 Co-op members to earn cash rewards when they purchase hundreds of different products at Co-op stores (including both national brands and private label products). The rewards can then be used to save for retirement, education costs, to pay off student loans, or even as donations to charitable causes.

Adding value The Futura Rewards programme will be offered to members at the 18 participating stores in addition to the existing Co-op Member Value programme, automatically entitling them to instant rewards.

Co-op grocery stores participating include Charlottetown (2 stores) and North Rustico, PEI; Saint John (2 stores), Moncton (2 stores), Quispamsis, Sackville, and Jacksonville, New Brunswick; New Glasgow, Sydney, Antigonish, Milford Station, and Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia; and Labrador City, Gander, and Lewisporte, Newfoundland & Labrador. More Co-op stores are expected to begin offering the programme in the near future.

Programme extension According to Mark Farrell, president and CEO for Futura Rewards' operator, KidsFutures Inc., "Not only have we gained our largest grocery partner to date, we also benefit from the fact each member of the participating Co-op stores will be automatically issued with a co-branded Futura-Co-op collector card."

The co-branded collector cards will also allow members to earn rewards at other participating retail locations through the standard Futura Rewards programme, including national chains and local area merchants.

Futura Rewards offers members rewards that are cash-equivalent and can be directed into any financial product (e.g. mutual funds in a RRSP, Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs), GICs, and so on) at any financial institution in Canada. The programme currently claims membership of 400,000 consumers, and boasts a coalition of over 60 programme partners representing over 100 well-known brands.
