Community/rewards hybrid loyalty scheme launched
In Canada, Beansaver has launched a new loyalty rewards-based e-commerce community, offering a hybrid customer loyalty and online community programme covering e-retailers throughout the US and Canada.
Beansaver members earn loyalty points called Beans for purchasing through retailer links (e.g. Sears, Chapters and Dell) and also for buying popular consumer electronics through Beansaver.com itself, and for sharing deals and offers with their friends.
BeanSaver combines traditional loyalty-based membership programmes with a rich and engaging online customer community, creating a shopping portal through which customers can find, save and share e-retailer offers while also collecting points for taking part and purchasing everyday goods.
"We wanted to create a fun, engaging experience that allows North Americans to shop, interact and collect," said Beansaver's founder and president, Anwar Sumar. "We took the concepts behind affiliate programmes and combined them with an online storefront to provide ways to save money and be rewarded at the same time, and all with free membership."
Beans can be redeemed for various items ranging from gift cards and movie tickets to points and cash rewards from retailers such as Best Buy, Canadian Tire, and Chapters, among others.
BeanSaver.com also hosts its own online store through which members can find consumer electronics at competitive prices, and featuring a 'Hot Deals' section boasting discounts of 20% up to 60% on normal pricing.
To celebrate the web site's launch, BeanSaver sent out a bonus email to new members signing up before 30th March 2010, featuring savings of up to 70% on electronics, and Notebook computers for as little as US$99.
