Coupons Inc goes to Australia

The US-based consumer-printed coupon marketing firm, Coupons Inc. (CI), has signed an agreement with Australian online direct marketing company, Cashstar International, to allow the use of CI's technology in Australia, following a successful trial of an e-mail and banner-ad campaign featuring coupons for a hair-care product.

Cashstar's trial - a campaign for Procter & Gamble's Pantene hair-care product - was launched in conjunction with the Australian retailer, Priceline, with Permission Communications and Ninemsn, and distributed consumer-printed Aus$4-off coupons to existing Pantene users via e-mail.

Recipients of the e-mail coupon were also allowed to forward it to friends via the 'refer-a-friend' mechanism. The campaign also included banner advertisements on the Ninemsn website.

Going global "Our CPG clients are looking for solutions that allow them to expand their consumer-printed coupon campaigns to their international markets," explained Steven Boal, president and CEO for Coupons, Inc. "Our agreement with Cashstar represents the first step in making the Coupons Inc. technology a global marketing tool."

Coupons Inc. is now also in discussions with as-yet-unnamed companies in Germany and the United Kingdom with a view to making the user-printed coupon technology available there as well.

"With Coupons Inc.'s technology, marketing managers can offer consumers printed coupons that are both secure and trackable," noted Jared Keen, executive director for Cashstar International.
