Credit card encourages RV owner loyalty

A new credit card aimed at the recreational vehicle (RV) market has been launched by the Retail Sales Finance unit of GE Consumer Finance. The new 'MileMarker' card is available to RV owners through authorised RV dealers in the USA.

To the benefit of the RV dealership, the MileMarker credit card has no processing fees for the dealer. To the benefit of the cardholders, RV owners can put all their RV related purchases on a single card while keeping their other credit card balances available.

The card is primarily intended for use at the issuing dealership (the name of which is embossed on the card along with the cardholder's name), from the purchase of small pop-ups and campers to service, parts and accessories. The RV industry is estimated at US$12 billion annually, and there are approximately 3,000 RV dealers across the USA.

More sales and loyalty According to Gary Slagle, vice president for the RV/marine industry at Retail Sales Finance, "The MileMarker card is a revolving credit tool that retailers can use to build customer loyalty and increase sales, and it enables dealers to offer innovative promotions and flexible payment options while giving their customers more purchasing power."

Application paperwork is minimal and the credit decision process is fast (usually within minutes), according to Kevin Chase, marketing manager for Retail Sales Finance. Chase added: "We wanted the application and decision process to be as quick and easy as possible because we know how important it is for the dealer to manage the sale. With the dealership name being embossed onto the card it will help to strengthen the link between the customer and the dealer."
