Drugstore.com unveils online loyalty programme
A three-pronged health & beauty loyalty programme is to be launched by online pharmacy retailer, Drugstore.com, featuring special promotions, cash rebates and free shipping deals for high-spending customers.
In its third-quarter 2002 trading statement, Drugstore.com reported year-on-year sales growth of 35% for the quarter, and announced its commitment to beginning the multi-featured loyalty programme in early November.
The firm's new online loyalty programme includes weekly personalised promotional offers, a repeat-purchase incentive plan where consumers earn a 5% rebate on all non-pharmacy purchases online, and free shipping on non-prescription orders of US$49 or more.
Trial agreement The firm has entered into a five month agreement with Webloyalty.com to test customer interest, and to measure Drugstore.com's ability to advertise unique services.
Under the agreement, customers will be offered a trial membership of Webloyalty's subscription service (which includes hotel, airline, and rental car discounts, as well as 24-hour roadside assistance).
"By trying these services our customers can earn a rebate on their next purchase from us," explained Kal Raman, CEO for Drugstore.com. "We work very hard to develop solutions that make it easy and convenient for consumers to shop with us."
According to Drugstore.com's trading statement, orders from repeat customers in the third quarter 2002 represented 72% of all orders received.
