eBay loyalty scheme launches into Pointsxchange
Following an earlier agreement between online auction-house, eBay, and loyalty points exchange operator, Points International, members of the popular auction service are now being offered access to the new 'eBay Anything Points' loyalty programme. eBay is the latest partner to join the Points.com points exchange.
Now that the programme - first announced in February 2003 - has been launched, eBay members can visit Points.com to exchange loyalty points with other loyalty programmes, and to redeem points for almost anything on the eBay auction web site, provided that payment is being made through a PayPal account.
Earning points Through the programme, eBay members can earn points, take advantage of special offers, and spend their points on eBay items. Points are deposited directly into the member's PayPal account, and can then be applied as currency to buy items through the eBay web site.
'Anything Points' can be earned in a number of ways: by using the points exchange, by taking up special offers from participating partners, and from points conversions from selected partners. The points can also be awarded by companies as part of an employee or customer incentive programme.
Other partners eBay joins other Pointsxchange participants including American Airlines (AAdvantage), InterContinental Hotels (Priority Club Rewards), Air Canada (Aeroplan), Delta Air Lines (Sky Miles), Imperial Oil (Esso Extra), GiftCertificates.com, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Cathay Pacific Airways (Asia Miles), American West Airlines (FlightFund), Alaska Airlines (Mileage Plan), Sprint, Spiegel, and JCPenney.
"We welcome this relationship eBay, and are pleased to supply a portfolio of points solutions to enhance eBay's Anything Points programme," said Points' CEO, Rob MacLean.
