Fly Buys to reward farmers for business loyalty
New Zealand's farmers are to be rewarded for their combined business and household spending in a single loyalty programme as three of their big ticket items - tractors and heavy machinery, their maintenance, and fertiliser - are added to the popular Fly Buys programme.
Following the launch of the Fly Buys Business programme in 2008, Fly Buys reports that it has chosen to expand its presence in the country's largest industry sector (agriculture) with heavy machinery supplier Case IH and fertiliser company Summit-Quinphos, both of which have signed contracts to join the programme as partners.
"These companies are a good addition to Fly Buys, enabling those in agri-business to aggregate their spending power across both their business and household expenses into a single rewards programme," said Fly Buys CEO Andy Symons.
Other categories of significant rural spending that are already covered by the programme include insurance, banking, fuel, electricity, hardware, and of course groceries. Symons confirmed that the programme is currently working toward the addition of other categories and partners.
According to Case IH's operations manager, Frans Onland, the company's 17 dealerships will be offering Fly Buys points for parts and servicing, as well as on purchases of new and used tractors, combine harvesters and general farm machinery, including non-Case IH brands.
For parts and servicing, members earn 1 Fly Buys point for every NZ$30 spent. For purchases of new and used tractors and farm machinery, members earn 1 point per NZ$200 spent. For all new Case IH products, bonus points will be added depending on the model chosen, ranging from 3,000 bonus points for the smallest JX/JXU model up to 20,000 points for combine harvesters and the Steiger model.
According to Summit-Quinphos general manager, Willie Thomson, Fly Buys members can earn 1 point for every NZ$50 spent on fertiliser (excluding lime), as well as for animal nutrition products.
Fly Buys currently claims membership of more than 1.1 million active households (representing 71% of the country's households), and a total of 2.2 million cardholders. Each day the Fly Buys card is swiped more than 300,000 times and an average of 2,000 rewards per day are sent out to members.
