Goldpoints Plus goes global - with extra points

Carlson Hotels' GoldPoints Plus frequent guest programme is being revamped and launched into 71 countries, with 50% - 100% more points being awarded for each hotel stay, bonus point offers, and a range of new perks for elite members.

Along with the revamped programme, Carlson Hotels has also added new carbon-neutral environmental and social responsibility initiatives to the programme.

Global reach The updated programme offers rewards at 965 hotel locations in 71 countries worldwide through one seamless system, providing more freedom and choice for members who travel the world.

Under the new structure, members can earn between 50% and 100% more points per hotel stay than before, without any increase in the redemption levels required for rewards (e.g. 20 points per US$1 or €1 spent on full-service brand hotel stays). The programme also includes the opportunity to earn airline miles with its 23 participating airline partners.

Improved benefits For elite members the range of new benefits include being assigned the best available hotel room, 25% to 50% point bonuses, last room availability, early check-ins and late check-outs, and elite-only points and cash offers.

All members are eligible to earn and redeem points at all of the hotels in the Carlson Hotels Worldwide network, including Regent Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Hotels & Resorts, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, and Park Inn.

According to Fredrik Korallus, executive vice president of revenue generation for Carlson Hotels Worldwide, "Over the past year we have taken a closer look at industry standards and listened carefully to our customers to develop an enriched programme with a more generous point-earning scale, measurable elite benefits, and rewards aimed at appealing to today's global traveller."

Social conscience Under the new programme, Carlson is also to allow its guests to donate points to the World Childhood Foundation, which focuses on the prevention of child exploitation and trafficking. Members can also choose to be more environmentally responsible with the option to transfer points to Carbon Neutral to help offset the carbon dioxide emissions associated with travel.

In celebration of the programme's global relaunch, a 'Five for Five' promotion will run until the last day of January 2008, offering programme members the chance to earn 5,000 bonus points with every fifth night they stay at any of the Carlson family of hotels around the world.

GoldPoints currently offers three levels of membership: Red, Silver Elite, and Gold Elite. Members need to stay a minimum of 15 nights each year to qualify for Silver Elite, or 35 nights for Gold Elite.
