Best Buy improves and boosts loyalty programme

In the US, Best Buy has announced new enhancements to its customer loyalty programme, Reward Zone, including the launch of a 'Best Buy Reward Zone Program MasterCard' credit card, issued by HSBC North America.

The Reward Zone loyalty programme will now allow members to choose between two levels of rewards. According to Barry Judge, Best Buy's senior vice president of marketing, "Customers told us that they wanted a rewards programme that was free. They were also looking to accelerate their reward potential. The changes we have made to the Reward Zone programme directly address those requests."

The Reward Zone membership fee has now been removed, offering free access to the programme for everyone. New members can enrol either in-store or online, and all members can choose to receive their reward certificates either by mail or by e-mail.

Member benefits Members earn 1 point for every US$1 in qualifying purchases at Best Buy stores, and online through the Best Buy web shop. In addition, members also benefit from special deals, sweepstakes and memorabilia offers, as well as gaining access to special member-only events.

The new credit card provides automatic enrolment in the Reward Zone programme, if the cardholder is not already a member. Purchases made using the card earn 4% on Best Buy purchases and up to 2% on purchases made elsewhere.

The credit card is available to US Residents, with applications being conducted online or in-store.
