Hotels.com launches Welcome Rewards scheme in UK

The online hotel bookings operator Hotels.com has launched a rewards programme called 'Welcome Rewards', offering regular customers in the United Kingdom a free night's stay for every ten nights booked.

The Welcome Rewards programme in the UK, which follows the programme's successful rollout in the US over the past 18 months, allows members to earn their ten nights regardless of which hotel group, bed and breakfast, self catering, or independent hotel they stay with.

Unlike many travel loyalty schemes, which are specific to one brand or hotel group, Hotels.com is allowing its customers to earn qualifying nights for any stay, and to redeem their one-night free stays at any eligible hotel from the company's global network.

The earning and redemption elements of the programme are very simple, having no blackout dates or complex 'qualifying points' requirements, and there are no requirements involving minimum or maximum lengths of stay.

However, each free night is awarded in monetary terms, and it is valued at the average rate of the ten stays, although members do have the option to book a more expensive room by paying the difference. Each one-night loyalty credit is valid for three years from the date it is earned.

The free night award redemptions are available at more than 65,000 hotels that can be booked through Hotels.com, and can be redeemed for weekdays or weekends with equal ease.

According to Alison Couper, global communications director for Hotels.com, "Welcome Rewards is a simple, straightforward programme that aims to be more generous than other hotel loyalty programmes."
