Hutch launches m-coupon incentives for India
In India, Hutchison Essar launched its new 'Hutch Tuesday' two-for-one privileges programme, giving Hutch subscribers special offers and discounts with a range of retail partners, based on ActiveMedia Technology's RAPOS mobile coupon-based marketing platform.
The m-coupon programme is being used to deliver customised offers to Hutch subscribers, with almost 400 retail partners in Mumbai having already been signed up, covering the entertainment, cinema, food and lifestyle sectors.
Through the new Hutch Tuesday privileges programme, subscribers receive exclusive two-for-one offers on Tuesdays, and other ancillary offers during the rest of the week. These discounts and offers can be redeemed at participating stores throughout the week.
Retail terminals ActiveMedia Technology's RAPOS real-time m-coupon technology includes a coupon authentication and redemption application that's preinstalled on customised handsets in each participating retail outlet.
To use the service, Hutch customers can SMS the short code 123, call the Hutch voice portal (on 123500) or visit PlanetHutch (the company's WAP site). An m-coupon is then sent to their mobile phone in the form of an SMS message, which can then be presented for redemption at the point of sale in participating outlets.
Future benefits According to Raj Singh, executive director for ActiveMedia Technology India, "We have conducted similar campaigns in other countries but an initiative of this magnitude in India represents a powerful endorsement of the potential of mobile coupons across global markets."
