In-store personalised selling system launches

An in-store associate sales system for specialty and department store retailers has been launched by Symbol Technologies, Inc. The system operates on Symbol's range of handheld computers and other devices, and provides a set of tools to guide retail sales associates through best practices for effective one-to-one retail selling.

The Symbol Clientele 1:1 Solution Suite system allows sales associates to coordinate sales activity, update client profiles, review purchase histories, check sizes and measurements, track shopper preferences and wish list items, make product suggestions, monitor shopping frequency, plan follow-up calls, schedule appointments, and send correspondence directly from a handheld computer. Additionally, the software supports ad-hoc queries and reporting on data collected in-store.

"We developed the system to help retailers better serve their customers, who are often time-starved, but need to find and purchase what they are looking for as quickly and easily as possible, while also providing retailers with an opportunity to drive sales and increase shopper loyalty," said Bryan Amaral, vice president for Symbol Technologies.

For example, if a shopper has a history of buying new spring clothes from a specific designer, a store associate will be able to use the system to contact the customer when the new spring line from their favourite designer arrives, driving both sales and shopper loyalty.
