JCPenney launches rewards programme

JCPenney has launched a cross-channel loyalty programme that encourages customers to keep shopping regularly.

JCPenney has launched JCP Rewards, a programme that enables customers to earn reward points and receive special members-only benefits for shopping with JCPenney (in-store, online or via catalogue) each month.

Earning points Customers will automatically receive points from purchases on any one of three personal credit or debit cards they register online for the programme, all of which can accumulate to receive monthly rewards. Members will earn one point for each dollar they spend on JCPenney regular-priced and sale-priced merchandise, and points will double for customers who shopped at JCPenney the previous month.

Additional points will be given to those who register their JCPenney credit card. In addition to reward points, customers who sign up for the programme will also receive members-only emails with savings and special bonus offers.

Certificates Members can earn up to US$120 in reward certificates annually. The US$10 certificates will be valid until the end of the calendar month in which it is issued, and members will be able use their certificates in conjunction with other promotions. Furthermore, purchases in which the US$10 certificate is used will be counted toward earning reward points. Each month, members will receive an e-mail statement with their current point balance.

"We know that a significant number of consumers are shopping in our merchandise categories each month. We also know that our customers spend an average of US$30 to US$40 each time they shop with us," said Mike Boylson, chief marketing officer of JCPenney. "With JCP Rewards we are able to reward customers for regularly shopping at JCPenney, while building long term customer loyalty."
