Marriott International has welcomed the twenty-millionth member of its 'Marriott Rewards' frequent guest loyalty programme, providing the lucky new member with a welcome treat: airfares and a week's stay for two at any Marriott International hotel in the world, and lifetime Platinum Elite status.
Currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Marriott Rewards programme been honoured with Business Traveler magazine's 'Best Hotel Reward Program' award for seven years in a row. The programme is now available through more than 2,400 participating hotels throughout 65 countries.
According to Ed French, Marriott's senior vice president of customer relationship marketing, people choose to join the programme because it offers them value for money, and because they want to be rewarded for their loyalty to the brand.
"The growth of the programme is due to Marriott's portfolio throughout the world, its reputation for providing excellent service, and the range of hotels where points can be earned and redeemed," commented French.
Marriott International, which has approximately 128,000 employees, operates and franchises hotels under the Marriott, JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance, Residence Inn, Courtyard, TownePlace Suites, Fairfield Inn, SpringHill Suites and Ramada International brand names.
