MBNA launches new UK football loyalty credit cards

MBNA Europe, with an already-swollen football-branded affinity credit card portfolio, has marked the start of the UK's Premiership football season with the launch of several new football reward programmes through football club credit cards.

Supporters of Manchester United and Fulham have reward programmes that award points for credit card spending, which can then be redeemed for club merchandise, special cardholder offers, and other cardholder events.

Earning and burning Premiership football cardholders earn points that can now be redeemed for club offers, club subscriptions, signed memorabilia, club merchandise and access to club training sessions. All cardholders earn 1 reward point for every £1 spent using their cards.

Points can also be redeemed through the MBNA Rewards programme for cash or gift vouchers, travel, entertainment and shopping.

Launch offer As an introductory offer, all of MBNA's football credit cards are currently offering 0% interest rates on balance transfers for 12 months, and 0% on retail purchases for three months. MBNA Europe is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America Corporation.

According to Andrew Banks, head of sports for MBNA Europe, "The introduction of rewards programmes on our Premiership football cards gives supporters another reason to carry their club colours in their wallets."
