Microsoft launches Office Live Rewards loyalty scheme

Personal rewards for business activities are no longer the domain of credit cards and stationery suppliers, as a new partnership between Incentive Logic and Microsoft marks the launch of a loyalty programme for users of Microsoft's Office Live product.

Office Live is an internet-based suite of business applications (effectively 'software as a service') that help SMEs build web sites and use the internet for storing, organising, and managing company data.

Rewards for software usage Incentive Logic (which has previously created a rewards programme for Microsoft and is now working on a third) was contracted to develop a reward programme that gives Office Live users points for using the service. Those points can then be redeemed later for various merchandise and travel gifts.

According to Filiberto Selvas, Office Live product manager at Microsoft, "By powering the Microsoft Office Live Rewards programme, Incentive Logic has given us the ability to add value for small business owners who turn to Office Live to promote and manage their business online."

Earning and burning The rewards programme for Office Live subscribers awards points for the following activities:

  • Signing up as a new member;
  • Using the web site for the first time;
  • Customising a web site;
  • Creating an e-mail address;
  • Maintaining an active status;
  • Initiating an activated referral;
  • Redeeming points for gifts.

The redemption options currently comprise various items of merchandise, and travel and leisure options ranging in value from US$15 to US$500.
