Mobile coupons for retailers and restaurants

NCR Corporation and m-Qube Inc. have joined forces to help retailers and food service operators increase sales using wireless marketing solutions, including instant mobile couponing, loyalty programmes, and promotions.

The recent growth in wireless communications is presenting marketers with new opportunities for one-to-one promotions and loyalty marketing based on the technology.

The US-based wireless media marketing firm, m-Qube, provides mobile messaging solutions allowing marketers to design, target, test, execute and measure campaigns for mobile consumers. Under the new agreement with NCR, the two firms will work together to offer the m-Qube solution to NCR's existing point-of-sale (POS) customers in the US and Canada.

POS integration The wireless marketing system is integrated with NCR's Advanced Store POS application, as well as the Compris POS system from NCR subsidiary, Compris Technologies Inc. The combined solution has been demonstrated this week at the National Retail Federation show in New York.

When integrated with NCR's POS software, the m-Qube solution allows retailers to create highly customised mobile couponing programmes that address the unique preferences of individual consumers. Offers can be delivered at the right time, while the consumer is in the right place to redeem it. In addition, retailers can integrate mobile couponing into their existing customer relationship management (CRM) system or loyalty programme to help increase traffic and visit frequency.

Market scale "With over 50% of North Americans using mobile phones, wireless media has become an exciting new opportunity to generate cost-effective responses among active, demographically attractive adult consumers," explained Dan Bogan, vice president of marketing for NCR's Retail Solutions Division.
