Most people to organise their summer holiday online
New research has found that 88% of online consumers will use the internet to book or plan their summer's holiday, often using it to find the cheapest prices.
The research, from Feedback Research, a division of online behavioural marketing experts, Claria Corporation, found that consumers are turning to the Internet for their travel planning and purchasing needs, with 88% of survey respondents who went (or are planning to go) on summer vacation either using (or planning to use) the Internet to research or book their summer vacations this year.
Some findings: Price still seems to be a major driver of choice when making travel arrangements. Over half (53%) of respondents indicated that they would travel with the brand or company that offered the lowest price.
And among respondents who bought travel online, 78% chose the sites they typically purchase from because of good prices or rates. Over half (56%) chose a site because it was easy to use. Just 28% chose a site because of loyalty or frequent flyer programmes.
Almost three in four (73%) of respondents who purchased travel online have researched travel at a general site, but then went to a specific company's site to purchase their travel arrangements (often because the company's site offered the best prices).
