Nectar Business rolls out a free iPhone app

In the UK, the Nectar Business arm of the popular Nectar coalition loyalty programme has launched its first free iPhone application, aiming to make it easier for small businesses to collect personalised Nectar point offers on the go, as well as keep up to date with their account.

The new application (downloadable for free from the Apple App Store by searching for 'Nectar') provides new mobile features for small business owners who, the programme operator says, are increasingly interacting with brands through a variety of channels - including mobile.

According to Nectar, recent research showed that the use of smart phones by small business users had more than doubled over the previous three years, with nearly half (48%) using them for business purposes.

Using the new app, Nectar Business collectors can view their points balance and receive exclusive Nectar points offers using their mobile phone, with offers coming from a range of partner brands including Viking Direct, Dulux Decorator Centres, Hertz, Sainsbury's and Ford.

The app also includes a 'store and reward locator' which helps collectors find their closest partner store location, allowing them to take advantage of Nectar point collecting and spending options wherever they go.

In addition, the app provides access to a business guide entitled '25 Top Tips for Small Business', which helps small business owners by providing advice, hints, tips, resources and food-for-thought in five key areas of business (including marketing, managing cash flow and social media, among others).

According to Louise Isaacs, head of Nectar Business, "The Nectar Business app aims to revolutionise the way in which Nectar Business collectors collect their Nectar points. Small Business owners are often on the move, and it also enables us to communicate with collectors through a channel that's relevant to them, anywhere and at any time."

Launched in January 2005, Nectar Business now claims over 600,000 members. Members can earn Nectar points every time they shop online (via nectar-business.com) with more than 450 online retailers, or for using Nectar Business partners including Viking Direct, Dulux Decorator Centres, Brakes, EDF Energy, Hertz, Thomson Local, BOC, Premierline Direct and The Nectar Business Credit Card. Other Nectar partners from which points can be collected include Sainsbury's, BP, Homebase, Ford, Brewers Fayre, Beefeater, Vision Express and Expedia.
