OnePass surprises loyal flyers on 20th anniversary

Marking the twentieth anniversary of its 'OnePass' frequent flyer programme, Continental Airlines has announced a series of special promotions for programme members, starting with an anniversary online auction.

For the month of July 2007, the airline is running a special online auction in which OnePass members have the chance to bid on an exclusive collection of merchandise and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, such as suites at Yankees and Astros games, a 14-day Osaka-Hong Kong cruise, Callaway golf clubs, a Hawaii vacation package, and a plasma television.

Random surprises To begin the celebration, the airline had a special surprise in store for lucky OnePass members throughout the Continental system. OnePass members on 20 randomly selected Continental flights were advised that they were each going to receive an additional 20,000 OnePass miles for their flight that day. Continental gate agents shared the news with passengers as they boarded.

"That was a fun way to show our OnePass members how much we appreciate their business," commented Mark Bergsrud, senior vice president of marketing programmes and distribution for Continental.

Programme statistics OnePass members can earn miles with over 100 partners - including the nine other airlines in the SkyTeam alliance and 14 additional airline partners - along with over two dozen hotel partners and six car rental partners. There are also dozens of credit card, cruise, retail, telecommunications and financial partners.

The OnePass programme in currently offered in 52 countries, and currently claims membership of over 32 million.
