Online loyalty scheme launched for US Hispanics

A new international Hispanic community and customer rewards programme called Puntismos has been launched in the USA, combined with a web site featuring 15 content channels ranging from movies and music to health and education.

The Puntismos.com community includes a free rewards programme that allows members to earn Puntos (points) by participating in various targeted marketing initiatives.

Content-driven loyalty According to Doug Lowell, president for Puntismos, "Many Hispanic web sites are very niche-oriented with a focus on jobs, dating and so on. But we feel there's also a need on the internet for a content-driven rewards programme catering to the Spanish-speaking community."

To help marketers reach the valuable and rapidly-growing Hispanic audience, the company developed the content-driven loyalty programme to reward Hispanic consumers for interacting with sponsoring companies.

Members can redeem their accumulated points through various redemption partners (lists of which can be found on the web site) to obtain a wide variety of consumer goods.

Future plans At the moment the programme is offered only in Spanish language, but English and Portuguese channels are expected to be launched within the next three months.

Lowell concluded: "Most rewards programmes revolve around specific companies such as hotel chains or retail stores, but this one is designed around a content-driven community."

In addition to the US Hispanic population, Puntismos is already targeting residents in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela.
