Online mall to reward eco-friendly customer loyalty

Earthscreen, a US-based environmentally-conscious online community that promotes green living, has partnered with Mall Networks to build a customised online mall that rewards members for contributing to environmental projects such as forest preservation and energy efficiency.

Members can earn cashback to contribute to environmental projects when they shop at more than 350 brand-name merchants in the Earthscreen Mall (including Apple Store, Barnes&Noble.com, Gap.com, LandsEnd.com, Nordstrom.com, Overstock.com, Sears.com, and Target.com, among others).

Earthscreen considered building an online mall internally but ultimately partnered with Mall Networks because of its existing technology platform, fast deployment time, customisation options, and the merchant relationships that Mall Networks had already set up.

Earning for the environment Earthscreen members can shop securely at hundreds of name-brand merchant web sites and earn cash rebates or contributions for their purchases. Additionally, merchants provide incentives to members to shop online through the mall, including special offers and bonus points.

In addition to cash-back rewards, Earthscreen's rewards programme includes forest protection and pollution offsets for cars and homes, digital photographs of the plants, animals and vistas that are being protected, and discounts on various eco-friendly products.

According to Dave Andre, president and CEO for Mall Networks, "With Earthscreen we have created an intuitive user experience with a mall environment that integrates into their existing web site without distracting from their central mission of environmental protection."
