Online shopping mall made for frequent fliers

A new online shopping mall, operated by a partnership of United Mileage Plus and Advantex Marketing, allows customers to earn Mileage Plus Miles for online purchases at more than 40 brand name and specialty e-retailers.

Existing Mileage Plus members can enrol at the new Mileage Plus Mall and earn Mileage Plus Miles on their purchases at participating e-retailers (which currently include Best Buy, Harry and David, Lands' End, Barnes & Noble, Nordstrom, and The Sharper Image).

Enrolled members can also receive optional e-mail alerts about special bonus mile offers from the mall's e-retailers, and about other special award opportunities.

More points, more quickly "We wanted to provide our members with more ways to earn miles toward free travel on United," explained Robert Sahadevan, senior vice president for Mileage Plus. "The new mall, based on Advantex customer loyalty technology, lets members earn miles at a range of top e-retailers."

"The Mileage Plus Mall provides participating e-retailers with the targeted marketing they need in order to reach and influence online customer purchasing behaviour", added G. Randall Munger, CEO for Advantex.

Advantex's responsibilities for the mall include web site development and maintenance, all aspects of e-retailer participation management, member communications, award calculation and processing, database management, analytics and reporting.
