PayBack and Weg.de launch new travel web site

The German loyalty coalition, PayBack, has partnered with the online travel portal operator, Weg.de, to launch a new travel platform called PayBack Reisen, with the motto 'the most beautiful points in the world'.

PayBack Reisen allows travellers to collect PayBack loyalty points for booking their holidays and flights through the site.

Big plans Over the next three years PayBack's operator, Loyalty Partner, says it expects the new portal to become one of the biggest travel web sites in the German-speaking market. The portal is being jointly run by a Munich-based partnership of Loyalty Partner and Weg.de's operator, Comvel.

Customers using the web site earn PayBack points based on the amount they spend on travel products. For example, customers who pay with the PayBack Premium Visa credit card earn 5 points per €1 spent (effectively the equivalent of a 5% discount).

Selection of travel options The web site offers both fixed-price and last-minute deals from over 60 tour operators, 100,000 holiday homes and flats in 30 countries, scheduled, charter and budget flights from over 500 airlines, and approximately 180,000 hotels and car hire firms. Customers can also use the site to compare the best and cheapest holidays from renowned tour operators, and even read hotel reviews written by other guests.

Consumer support Over 60% of German households have a PayBack card, and the company's own opinion poll research suggested that millions of members would actively use a broad-based travel platform associated with the programme.

PayBack currently sends out 96 million direct mailings and 140 million e-mail newsletters each year, and its brand is represented in some 7,800 partner stores.
