Pizza franchise launches gift & loyalty card

The US-based franchise operation Nick-N-Willy's World Famous Take-N-Bake Pizza has deployed a new loyalty programme based on Catuity Inc.'s re-loadable gift and loyalty card platform.

The Denver, Colorado-based 70-store franchise is launching the Nick-N-Willy's Lift Card programme using Catuity's new turnkey retail card system designed for food service companies, quick casual restaurants, and other franchise operations. The system has the dual aim of acquiring new customers and encouraging existing customers to spend more with greater frequency.

According to John Racine, president and CEO for Catuity Inc., "The Lift Card combines the best features of gift card (as a customer acquisition tool) and the benefits of driving repeat business through loyalty programmes."

Franchisee support Support for adoption of the programme is reported to be strong among franchise owners, and the mandatory programme is expected to be deployed in nearly 100 stores through 2006. Nick-N-Willy's has over 40 new stores due to open in the USA, as well as some 20 new Canadian stores currently under development.

Richard F. Weil, president and CEO for Nick-N-Willy's, added: "We are in one of the most competitive niche markets in North America, and we believe that a strong loyalty and gift programme will be a key strategic differentiator for our franchises."

Unique real-time offers The Lift Card gives a unique offer to each customer based on their purchase history and preferences. Every time they use the programme, customers also receive a customised message on their printed receipt. This makes the programme well suited for stealth marketing techniques and competitive differentiation.

Loyalty credits Nick-N-Willy's also offers cardholders the ability to use either their card or their primary phone number to receive credit with every purchase, replacing the original paper-based loyalty programme. According to Weil, "We are replacing our paper-based programme with the Catuity system because it allows us to actually track (with their permission) our customers' activity."

Nick-N-Willy's will deploy the programme on IP-enabled VeriFone Omni 3750 terminals, and Catuity provides the necessary services for all aspects of the programme (including store level deployment, card production, training, support, and processing services).
