Players Choice Club launches in Boston
In Boston, USA, the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) has licensed a new baseball affinity club, Players Choice Club, operated by Affinity Club Network LLC.
The Players Choice Club is a members-only club providing fans with opportunities to attend special events where they can interact directly with Major League Baseball (MLB) players off the field.
Although many "meet the star" schemes eventually make interaction with the stars available to a relatively small number of fans, Players Choice Club was designed to more actively bring members closer to the players, and closer to the game itself.
Fan benefits For example, members will be invited to attend personal meet-and-greet events with current and former players, bring their children to baseball clinics given by the players, and to attend group outings with players.
Other features for the fans include: invitations to player parties; Spring training conventions in Florida and Arizona; discounts on game tickets, road trips, and baseball camps; discounts on memorabilia; and a members-only online store. Players Choice Club membership will cost US$19.95 per month.
Making fans 'insiders' Judy Heeter, director of business affairs and licensing for the MLBPA, said: "Players Choice Club will make fans feel like baseball insiders, with special access, special products and special memories available only through their club membership."
Hall of Famer Dave Winfield, co-chairman of membership for Players Choice Club, will be in Boston tomorrow (September 7th) to officially introduce the new club and participate in a children's clinic and meet-and-greet event.
