Points.com revamps web site and offerings
Points International, operator of the Points.com loyalty rewards management service, has unveiled a new and enhanced web site providing a more user-friendly look and feel, along with a range of new information to help users get the most out of their loyalty programme memberships.
The company says that the new web site was reengineered to provide a more interactive service to help consumers manage their membership of multiple loyalty programmes in a more informed and streamlined way.
The new site focuses on making it simpler to earn, track and use miles and points in almost any programme with simply-named 'Get', 'Move', 'Redeem' and 'Earn' features. In addition, a stream of real-time, personalised content aimed at increasing user awareness should help consumers make the most of their participation in a range of loyalty programmes.
"In North America alone there are now over 1.3 billion loyalty programme accounts, across a variety of sectors, with more than 100 million consumers participating in an average of 14 programmes each," explained Christopher Barnard, president for Points.com. "Throughout the design effort for the new site, we canvassed tens of thousands of loyalty programme members and actively studied user habits. The result was a highly personalised user experience that offers relevant information and earning options for all the programmes that each user is part of."
In addition to the web site's existing features, several new options are being introduced as part of the re-launch, including:
- A universal balance tracker The site now allows users to track their points and miles from more than 100 programmes, including more than 60 directly integrated loyalty partners;
- A personalised news feed The new web site's 'dashboard' is easy to use and tailored to individual users' programmes of choice, incorporating a news stream of daily earning opportunities and offering a platform to post content related to users' favourite programmes. The news feed enables loyalty programme operators to help members be better informed about their various opportunities to earn points and miles;
- Location settings Through the site's 'location' feature, loyalty programme partners and Points.com users are able to post location based tips and promotions to the real-time news stream, effectively notifying all registered members who are interested in those specific locations.
The launch marks the first phase of Points International's new consumer platform, and the company says it expects to continue to evolve and enhance the Points.com site, introducing other new features throughout the coming year, including an expanded social media component.
In addition to the web site's relaunch, the company has also announced a collaborative promotion with selected loyalty programme partners in which new users are given the chance to win 1 million miles.
Points.com users can swap, earn, buy, gift, share and redeem their miles and points from more than 25 loyalty rewards programmes, including American Airlines' AAdvantage programme, Aeroplan, AsiaMiles, British Airways' Executive Club, Delta SkyMiles and InterContinental Hotels Group's Priority Club Rewards, among others. Redemption partners currently include popular brands such as Amazon.com and Starbucks.
