Reservation Rewards expands into Canada

The US-based marketing services provider Webloyalty has announced the expansion of its subscription-based consumer rewards programme, Reservation Rewards, to begin serving Canadian consumers.

Canadian customers of US and Canada-based e-commerce, travel and subscription-based businesses can now gain the benefits of the Reservation Rewards entertainment and travel protection programme. Four of Webloyalty's US clients have already launched Reservation Rewards for their Canadian customers.

The programme offers its members discounts at tourist attractions, restaurants, retail stores and various service providers. Other benefits include discounts (of up to 50%) on cinema tickets, hotel over-booking protection, baggage delay and loss protection, travel delay protection and 24-hour road and towing coverage.

Growing north According to market research firm eMarketer, online shopping in Canada is expected to grow more than 20% per annum over the next five years, with more US retailers and internet companies heading into Canada for greater growth opportunities. eMarketer's figures suggest that Canadian consumers spent some Can$4.6 billion on products and services (including travel bookings) online in 2005 - an increase of 23% over 2004.

According to Rick Fernandes, CEO and founding partner of Webloyalty, "The ability to offer entertainment and travel protection benefits to Canadian customers offers the opportunity to serve them better while expanding our customer base."
