Scotiabank launches hockey rewards credit card
Scotiabank, the official bank of the Canadian National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) have launched a new ScotiaHockey Visa card with a ScotiaHockey Rewards programme, aiming to help Canadian fans support the national sport.
In the run-up to the 2008-2009 National Hockey League regular season, the ScotiaHockey Visa card and ScotiaHockey Rewards programme were designed reward hockey fans and their families for making purchases with a Visa card.
Cardholders are rewarded with 1 ScotiaHockey Rewards point for every Can$1 in purchases charged to their credit card, as well as a 2,000 point bonus for their first card purchase within sixty days of opening the card account. New cardholders are also automatically entered into a draw to win one of three sets of two tickets to a Stanley Cup Final Game, including travel and accommodation.
Cardholders can redeem their points for NHL merchandise at the NHL online ship, or for exclusive hockey experiences with NHL players, or for travel to matches. The new card also offers two card designs to choose from.
According to Chris Hodgson, executive vice president and head of domestic personal banking at Scotiabank, "The ScotiaHockey Visa card and ScotiaHockey Rewards programme form a consumer package that recognises customers' passion for hockey and lets them show it off every time they use the card."
"ScotiaHockey Visa card customers can earn thousands of ScotiaHockey rewards points each year simply by using their cards for everyday purchases like groceries, gas, meals out and event tickets," added Hodgson.
