Seven-year old wins 1 million TripRewards points
In the USA, a seven year-old in Woodbury, CT, outmanoeuvred three other young drivers to win the 'TripRewards Kart Challenge' at New York's South Street Seaport, claiming the first prize of one million points in Cendant Hotel Group's TripRewards frequent guest programme.
The young winner added the TripRewards Kart Challenge victory to his existing record of 27 local wins, beating two 11 year-olds and a 13 year-old to the finishing line.
Summer travel campaign The event was sponsored by the TripRewards Drive to Rewards campaign which offers summer travellers chances to win a 2007 Chevy Uplander LT Entertainer van, an Apple iPod nano digital music player, or US$50 fuel cards.
The Drive to Rewards promotion runs until 31st August 2006, and offers a coupon booklet (worth some US$195 or more) to members checking in at participating Days Inn, Ramada, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Wingate Inn, AmeriHost and Knights Inn hotels in the US and Canada, or at any Travelodge hotel in the US.
TripRewards members also earn one entry into the Drive to Rewards Sweepstake for each qualifying night stayed during the promotional period. The sweepstake's grand prize is a 2007 Chevy Uplander Entertainer, with 80 iPod Nano music players as minor prizes.
Online games Members can also visit the TripRewards web site during the campaign to play the Drive-N-Win game in which there are over 1,000 US$50 fuel cards to be won.
TripRewards is available at 6,000+ hotels, and also offers points-earning opportunities at over 45 participating merchants and service providers (including Avis and Budget car rentals). The programme currently has over 250 loyalty reward redemption options, including hotel stays, airline tickets, resort vacations, electronics, sporting goods, movie and theme park tickets and gift certificates.
