Singapore gets Ride & Redeem transit loyalty scheme
The Singapore transit system operator SBS Transit has announced a time-limited, island-wide 'Ride & Redeem' loyalty rewards programme to benefit commuters who regularly travel on SBS buses, North East Line (NEL) trains and Sengkang or Punggol LRT.
From 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2008, commuters will be rewarded for every trip that they take with SBS Transit using their EZ-link card.
Earning & burning The Ride & Redeem programme rewards commuters with the same amount in Transit Dollars as the fare paid. They can then redeem the reward currency, which is accumulated directly on each EZ-link travel card, to claim various prizes. For example, if a commuter spends S$0.65 on one trip, a total of 0.65 Transit Dollars is awarded.
When the commuter accumulates 50 Transit Dollars, it can be redeemed for a free snack (such as a brownie). Other prizes include manicure services and free meals at participating dining outlets.
Loyalty bonuses Commuters can also earn Bonus Dollars if there is a usage value increase of at least S$1 compared to the previous week. This reward currency can be used to redeem for bigger prizes (such as free holiday resort stays). A new selection of prizes is to be offered and published every three months.
The first commuter to earn 20 Bonus Dollars will win a Bintan Lagoon suite stay for two (worth S$800). And, every quarter, the top 5 Transit Dollar earners will win a 3 day/2 night stay at Bintan Lagoon (worth S$672). Other prizes include entertainments such as restaurant vouchers and movie tickets.
Online registration To participate in the programme, commuters need to register their EZ-link cards with the programme operator's web site. No registration fee is required, and the first 2,000 commuters to sign up can expected to receive a free Mr Bean soya milk drink.
According to SBS Transit executive director, Mr Ong Boon Leong, "This latest promotion is one where customers can enjoy treats all year round simply by travelling with SBS Transit."
