Spirit Air to launch customised FFP rewards mall
Florida, USA-based airline Spirit Air has announced that it will soon offer a customised online shopping mall for its Free Spirit frequent flyer programme members.
The Spirit Airlines merchant-funded rewards mall, expected to launch in spring 2007, rewards frequent flyer programme members by providing a one-stop online shopping destination with exclusive promotions, discounts and mileage rewards.
Free Spirit members will earn miles each time they shop at more than 400 major, brand-name retailers in the Spirit Airlines mall including circuitcity.com, JCPenney.com, OfficeDepot.com, ProFlowers.com, Sears.com, Lands' End, Overstock.com and many others.
Coming trend Mileage malls are a relatively recent addition to the travel rewards scene, and are arguably a logical outcome of FFP programmes' evolution from frequent flyer to frequent buyer initiatives.
But the trend to come is undoubtedly one of growth, as more and more airlines and hotels are starting to feature such malls, allowing programme members to earn miles or points when shopping at usually extensive networks of online merchants.
Mall Networks, which builds, hosts and maintains custom online malls for loyalty programmes - to help increase revenue and keep members engaged - was chosen by Spirit Air to create its new online shopping portal.
